In addition ,the Mega project of Dedicated freight corridor costing about 1.0 lakh cr  today will be constrcted in next 5 to 7 year by engineers of IRSE

Gross revenue of indian railways in 2006-07 was Rs 62484 cr ie appx Rs 180 cr per day.in 2006-7 ,indian Railways earned the profit of Rs 20000 cr after coverng the loss of 6000 cr on account of passenger traffic .

Gross traffic revenue in 2007-8 is expected ( as per budget speech) to Rs 72 755 cr with cash surplus before dividend as Rs 25000 cr .It is estimated that in 2008-9 ,Gross traffic revenye will be about Rs 81,901 cr

Annual plan for 2008-9 is Rs 37500 cr which is biggest in last 4 decade
